Enrollments Are Coming in for 2018

Congratulations and thanks to the families planning ahead for the summer of 2018 by early enrolling their kids in the HdG Youth Sailing Program.  Last year we taught 53 kids over 7 weekly instructional sessions.  We are scaling up our 2018 program with additional instructors and a bigger boat fleet, wanting to serve up to 100 students over another 7 weekly sessions.  We now have our first 6 enrollees toward our goal!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay warm……

    1. Hi Amy,

Camp sessions sail starting Monday June 18 and repeat each Monday thereafter until July 30. We may offer a 7th session starting August 6 pending the school schedules of our instructors. Age range is 7 years to 18 years with prior experience ranging from none (the typical situation) to mutiple years gained from camp and family sailing activitties. Please visit the webite “Request Information or Enroll Your Child” pull-down to provide contact informatoin, request more informatoin, and/or enroll your chlld.

PS: I forgot to note we are not sailing the seek startiing July 2 so there is no interference with Havre de Grace municipal Independence Day celebrations.

    1. Hi Susan,

Thanks for the inquiry. Camp is for ages 7-18 and costs $350 per session week. A 25% discount is applied if a camper sails with us a second week or for all siblings of an enrolled camper who also want to sail. We can accommodate zero sailing experience (this is the typical situation) or more experienced sailors (we happily configure the program to meet each camper’s experience and interests).

Dinghy sailing is an inherently wet activvity as campers learning to balance their boat frequently capsize. Basic swimming skills are required and demonstrated on day 1 using a required PFD. Michael Phelps skills are not needed. A camper does need the ability to surface after jumping into the water, get oriented, tread water for a minute, and move a few feet to their upended pram, right it, and climb aboard again. If you have other questions, please do not hestiate to ask.
